Shadows
I wait
as the moon spills
its broken light over the sea.
The wind, a lover’s breath,
whispers in my ear
all the words I’ve never spoken.
I hold your absence like a rock
pressed against my chest,
worn smooth from the weight of time.
Your name, a silent prayer
that drifts between the stars,
sinks like the last note of a forgotten song.
In every shadow, I see your face,
the outline of your laughter,
your hands shaping the sky.
And still, the earth spins, indifferent.
Still, I wait, as the ocean gathers
each wave, each promise,
and lets them fall apart again.
I wait
as the horizon trembles with the promise of dawn,
and the silence grows heavy
with things left unsaid.
Your absence pulls the world apart –
a thread unraveled from the fabric of the sky.
I search for you in the curve of the wind,
in the scent of rain,
in the way the earth turns, slow and steady,
but you are always beyond my reach,
like a flame that flickers
just before the dark swallows it whole.
If only I could hold time in my hands,
stop it from moving, from forgetting you.
But even now, the stars fade,
and the night slips from my grasp,
leaving me here,
on the edge of a dream
where your voice is a distant echo,
and I am a ghost waiting to remember.
