Sparks

Not all sparks turn to embers.
Some are meant to burn brightly,
to show us the way for a moment,
then fade into the night.

We try to hold on,
clutching at the heat,
but some flames
are not ours to keep.
Some are lessons,
not destinations.

Moving on is not forgetting –
it’s letting the ashes settle,
letting the wind carry what remains,
while we walk forward,
hands empty, but hearts open
for the fires yet to come.

There is no shame in release.
The spark was real,
its light was true,
but some flames
are meant to burn only briefly.
Even the brightest fire
cannot hold us forever.
