Until You Decided It Wasn't - The Fat Poet

Until You Decided It Wasn’t

It was everything,
a world built on shared dreams and whispered promises,
each moment a thread in the tapestry of us,
woven with laughter, tears, and countless quiet moments.

We were stars in our own sky,
burning bright, lighting the paths we walked together.
Every touch, every glance,
a silent vow of forever.

But then, like a sudden eclipse,
you decided it wasn’t.
The warmth faded, the light dimmed,
leaving shadows where once there was radiance.

Separation came like a thief in the night,
stealing away the future, or at least an instance,
leaving me with fragments, echoes of what once was,
and an emptiness filled with your absence.

Loss settled in my bones,
a weight I carried with each breath,
each step a reminder of the spaces you no longer filled,
each day a struggle to find meaning in the void.

But time, relentless and unyielding,
began to soften the sharp edges of the pain.
I learned to navigate the dark,
to find strength in the solitude,
to cherish the memories,
without being consumed by them.

I learned to reclaim my narrative,
to see the beauty in my own reflection,
to recognize that my worth was never tied
to your validation or presence.

Moving on wasn’t a choice but a necessity,
a journey of rediscovery,
of finding pieces of myself I had forgotten,
hidden beneath the layers of us.

It was everything,
until you decided it wasn’t.
Now, I rise with a renewed spirit,
each step forward a declaration of my independence,
each breath a testament to the resilience of my heart.

I am no longer defined by the loss,
but by the strength I found in the aftermath,
by the power I reclaimed,
by the love I now give to myself,
a love that is boundless, infinite,
and truly mine.
